Threatened: More than 250 residence are currently threatened in the Swanton and Bonny Doon communities.
Evacuations: Evacuations remain for the communities of Bonny Doon and Swanton affecting 2,000-2,400 people.

Conditions: Major problems and concerns continue to be the weather, steep terrain and limited access to the fire’s perimeter. Conditions continue to be very fluid and may change quickly based on weather factors.
Several road closures are in effect in the fire area and are being coordinated by the Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Department and the California Highway Patrol. As of 9 p.m. this evening, Empire Grade has been reclosed due to public safety concerns.

An evacuation center has been established at the Vintage Church at Hwy 1 and Mission. A large animal evacuation center has been set up at the Watsonville fairgrounds and a small animal evacuation center has been established at 7th & Rodriguez.

Location:

Approximately 5 miles from downtown Boulder Creek, due West of Brookdale/Ben Lomond.

Evacuations:

Mandatory evacuations in the Swanton Road area North of Davenport, and Bonny Doon.  In the event of evacuations in this area we will use reverse 911 and the Sheriffs office.  If you want to register your cell phone for reverse 911 go to                   www.sccecc.org.

Road Closures:

Last Chance Road, Warnella Truck Trail, Mill Creek Road, Swanton Road, Swanton View Road, Rancho Del Oso, Penstock, Pine Flat Road, Empire Grade

Fire Size:

4100 acres plus pushing South to South East Towards Bonny Doon and Davenport

LOCATION: Burning in the rugged terrain between Empire Grade Road and Highway 1
EVACUATIONS: Mandatory evacuations for the Bonny Doon area affecting 500-1,000 homes and 300 people in the Swanton area. Other roads affected include Swanton Road, Swanton View Road, Mill Creek Road, Last Chance Road, Warnella Truck Trail, Rancho Del Oso and Penstock.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ROAD CLOSURES: CHP at 11 a.m. today were directing traffic away from Bonny Doon. There are hard road closures at Bonny Doon and Smith Grade roads; Empire Grade and Alba roads; and Felton Empire and Empire Grade roads. Roads at least partially closed today include Empire Grade, Swanton Road, Bonny Doon Road, Pine Flat Road, Ice Cream Grade and Smith Grade.
STRUCTURES THREATENED: 1000. No reports of buildings destroyed.
FIRE CREWS: 1,000 firefighters; 8 helicopters; 6 air tankers; Firefighters said they are bringing in 'hundreds of engines.'
