BCFD

The Boulder Creek Fire Department is the local fire department for Boulder Creek California. Our membership is currently about 30 people. Everyone except the Chief is a volunteer. What that means is we don’t do it for the money, we do it because we want to.

We are all local residents. Some of us work here in town, and some work over hill. We come from all walks of life. We have engineers, carpenters, truck drivers, professional rescue/safety experts, paramedics, and contractors. We even used to have a pharmacist. He took a job demotion and became one of our Commissioners. One of the guys is on a leave of absence… he went into the US Marine Corps.

More than half of us are EMTs or paramedics. This is a good thing because well over half of our calls are medical in nature. Some of us use BCFD to move on to professional firefighting jobs. Others do it because, well, just because.

In short, we are just the people who live here in town. Just like you.
